Hopefully this is a sign that this has FINALLY been fixed.
Previously, every time WoW got a patch of major update, the Data folder just grew larger and larger, to the point where I got nearly 30GB of SSD space back by clean-installing the game at the start of BfA.
This new launcher update seems to have finally implemented some sort of "garbage collection" for the game data, based on how it actually removes the PTR data from the Data folder if you uninstall it. *shrug*ĮDIT: Right as I posted this my Blizz App alerted me that it needed to restart for an update! After the restart I then got a 700+mb patch for WoW, but the Blizz App now shows the same "What's New" as the first image, so I guess this is now available for EU. I then cancelled the install and uninstalled the Beta, just figured this new feature wasn't available in EU yet because Blizzard releases to NA at least 24 hours before the rest of us get to try things. The install started and copied about 30+GB of data from somewhere (the main install I guess) and then started downloading another 20+GB of data! When I checked my folder structures there was no "_ptr_" folder in my "\World of Warcraft" install folder but there was a "\World of Warcraft Beta" folder alongside my "\World of Warcraft"" folder. I read about his new update a couple of days ago and tried it out, at that time the blue post said to switch the Blizz App to the Beta version and then install the PTR/Beta and it should install a new "_ptr_" folder in your "\World of Warcraft" install folder, similar to how we now have a "_retail_" folder for the main game along with a "Data" folder which is supposed to be the one that is shared by all installed versions of WoW. News.Is it up on EU ? For me it create a new folder called "World of Warcraft Public Test" for 52 GB. Lock if superfluous, I guess? It's not gigantic news, just. Is this really the direction they should go with a small expansion of their F2P market? Would it be better to make the first 50 or 60 levels F2P instead if they wanted to bring in more players? Interesting levels of skill and personalities at end game.Įither way, it's a cool tool for both F2P would-bes and current players, but. The free-with-expansion boosts of WoD and Legion certainly brought in some.
Existing characters will not be affected and Character. Copy was disabled in the build we released earlier this week and will likely remain disabled for the remainder of 7.0.3 PTR testing. My husband, who just re-subbed to WoW today after quite a while and re-installed the game/, has all the PTR realms on his client but has never used PTR in the past. I have no option for any PTR realms or to install any. I'm also not sure how I feel about an even bigger influx of boosted characters. The World of Warcraft: Legion pre-expansion patch is coming soon, and that means a great number of changes and improvements to the game are on their way. My only options above ‘play’ for WoW are the Live WOW and WOW Classic realms. If they're introducing character services tokens, how much are they gonna cost? Is it gonna be worth it to drop ~$70 USD just to get ~150k gold? The WoW Token has done wonderful numbers for Blizz and players alike. When it comes to character services tokens, I feel that they're inevitable. My only concern is the mention of a "boost token". If you're a new player, it lets you see what it's like at a higher level, try the first part of the Legion zones, and then buy Legion (since it comes with a boost) and use that on the character if you wanted? No regrets to be made, no need to grind a character up to the 70s+ to get a proper feel of the rotation.
If you're looking to boost, you can trial the classes and specs before you ultimately choose.
I have a full WoW account including Legion. And the PTR FAQ only mentions this: Note: World of Warcraft PTR realms are only available to players who have a full World of Warcraft account. It's adding a different dimension to re-rolling, starting new, etc. The frontpage says I only need to do the steps mentioned there.
